Your Sister, Sister moment - doppelgänger edition.

You share more than looks with your doppelgänger. And, Pakistan needs us.

Welcome to your weekly dose of information, inspiration and joy for all things BIPOC women!

I'd really like to draw your attention to Pakistan. 1/3 of the country is underwater due to extreme flooding. If you want to know more, here’s a quick breakdown of the situation. If you want to help, and have the means to donate, you can do so via this list of orgs.

Let's get glowing

Politics

Another barrier broken!👩🏽‍💼 Mary Peltola won the special election for Alaska’s only US House seat. She’s the first Native Alaskan to serve in the House, and the first woman to hold the seat. She’s also not a regular mom politician, she’s a cool mom politician. Mary won the election by highlighting that she’s here for Alaskans. “I’m not a millionaire. I’m not an international celebrity.”

Science

Seeing double👯‍♀️ A recent study has found that people who look identical have similar genomes (DNA sequences)Lead researcher, Dr. Manel Esteller, was a little surprised by this finding. But also noted that there are only so many ways to build a unique face. “Now there are so many people in the world, the system is repeating itself.” You never know when you might have your own Sister, Sister moment, doppelgänger edition.

Watch - Partner Track. Legal drama, friendships, romance and fabulous fashion with Arden Cho as the lead. What’s not to love?!

Make - Vienna Einspänner Iced Coffee. This recipe by Sena, aka London Is Hungry, adds a Korean twist to the Viennese einspänner. It’s the perfect treat to cool you down (and wake you up on a hot day). Not a fan of coffee? Try Sena’s Matcha Einspänner Iced Latte recipe.

This week, I’m doing a recap of some of these women. They’re doing cool and inspiring things, obvs. If you’re part of the OG crew … I figure it’s exciting for you to read about some of your faves again, right? Let’s go!
